The 9th season of Saturday Night Live began on October 8, 1983 and ended on May 12, 1984. The cast remained the same from season 8, with the addition of Jim Belushi. Eddie Murphy left the cast midseason, and Joe Piscopo left at the end of the season. Robin Duke, Tim Kazurinsky, and Brad Hall were all forced out at the end of the season, in an attempt to rejuvenate the cast.
