Sir Thomas Sean Connery (born 25 August, 1930-31 October, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer. He is best known as the original James Bond for the films. Although he has never been on Saturday Night Live, he has been impersonated mostly by Darrell Hammond 18 times.
Connery was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He worked for many jobs before becoming an actor, including a milkman and bodybuilder.
He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. Though he had been nominated for knighthood in 1997 and 1998, but they were rejected by Donald Dewar, then the First Minister of Scotland, citing Connery’s support of Scottish independence.
In Celebrity Jeopardy!, Connery would often prank Alex Trebek which made him very frustrated. He would pronounce categories in ways that made them sound vulgar, imply that he had sexual relationships with Trebek’s mother, call him names, and make the correct answer in Final Jeopardy something that makes fun of Trebek (example “IOISSSB”, a nonsense word, becomes a picture of Connery defecating on Trebek’s grave). He died a month before Trebek.
Connery died of pneumonia on October 31, 2020, at the age of 90.
