Sarah Heath-Palin (born February 11, 1964) is an American politician, commentator and author who was the Republican Party nominee for Vice President in the 2008 presidential election, becoming the first Alaskan on the national ticket of a major party and first Republican woman nominated for the vice presidency. She was also the 9th Governor of Alaska from 2006 until her resignation in 2009 and the Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska from 1996 to 2002. On Saturday Night Live, she has been impersonated by Tina Fey eight times, which is also one of Fey's famous impressions on the show, and Palin herself made a cameo on October 18, 2008 during the "Palin Press Conference" cold opening sketch where she also started the show by uttering the famous line, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
