The 50th episode of Saturday Night Live was hosted by Charles Grodin with musical guest Paul Simon, who performed "Slip Slidin' Away" and "You're Kind" with The Persuasions as a backing band. Simon also appeared in a sketch singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with Grodin. Simon hastly exited the stage and Art Garfunkel took his place.
