The 748th episode and 3rd episode of Saturday Night Live's 39th season premiered on October 12, 2013, hosted by German-born actor Bruce Willis, and the musical guest was Katy Perry, a pop singer-songwriter, who performed "Roar" and "Walking on Air." This is Bruce Willis' 2nd time hosting and his first appearance for the first time in 24 years and 12 days, and Katy Perry's 2nd musical guest appearance on SNL.
Willis last hosted SNL was on September 30, 1989, the premiere of SNL's 15th season, with musical guest Neil Young and the last time Katy Perry was the musical guest was on September 25, 2010, the premiere of SNL's 36th season, with longtime former cast member Amy Poehler as host.
