The 121st episode of Saturday Night Live was hosted by Susan Saint James. The billed musical guest was The Kinks; cast member Christine Ebersole also performed the Michael O'Donoghue-penned Single Women, which would later be covered by Dolly Parton.

While hosting the episode, Saint James met and began dating producer Dick Ebersol; the two were later married.
