Mel Gibson, AO (born January 3, 1956) is an American actor, film director, producer and screenwriter best known for his roles as Max Rockatansky in the Mad Max films, Detective Sgt. Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon films and as William Wallace in the 1995 epic historical drama film Braveheart which he also directed and produced. He hosted Saturday Night Live on April 1, 1989.

He was also impersonated by Mark McKinney on the January 20, 1996 episode during "The Joe Pesci Show" sketch, by Jon Stewart on the March 9, 2002 episode during the "We Were Soldiers That Knew What Women Want" sketch, by Ashton Kutcher on the February 6, 2010 episode during "The View" sketch and currently by Jason Sudeikis on the April 17, 2010 episode during the "Mort Mort Feingold: Accountant For The Stars" sketch and on the October 13, 2012 episode during the "Give Us All Our Daughters Back!" filmed commercial sketch.
