The 736th episode and 12th episode of Saturday Night Live 's 38th season premiered on January 26, 2013, hosted by Adam Levine, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the pop rock band Maroon 5 and the star and coach of the NBC's singing reality competition series The Voice, with rapper Kendrick Lamar as the musical guest, who performed "Swimming Pools (Drank)" and "Poetic Justice" and appeared in the SNL Digital Short. This was Adam Levine's first-time hosting, as well as his 7th appearance. This is also Kendrick Lamar's musical guest debut on SNL.
