The 10th episode of Season 9 and the 169th episode of Saturday Night Live premiered on January 21, 1984, hosted by English actor, comedian, writer, television presenter, and public speaker Michael Palin and his mother Mary Palin, with musical guest The Motels, a new wave band. This is Michael Palin's 4th and final time hosting, and his mother Mary Palin's only hosting stint, respectively on SNL, as well as his only appearance in the Ebersol-era. This is also the only musical guest appearance on SNL for the Motels.
