Harry Julius Shearer (born December 23, 1943) is an American actor, humorist, writer, voice artist, musician, author, radio host, and filmaker. He is best known for his long-running roles on The Simpsons, his work on Saturday Night Live, the comedy band Spinal Trap, and his radio program Le Show. He co-starred with SNL cast members Michael McKean and Christopher Guest in This is Spinal Tap!, playing rockers of the ill-fated metal band. Shearer also did a bit part in a 1988 film starring Dan Akyroyd called My Stepmother is an Alien, although they shared no screen time. Shearer provided the voice of Basinger's assistant impersonating Carl Sagan.
