Benedict XVI (Latin: Benedictus XVI; born Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger; April 16, 1927 - December 31, 2022) is pope emeritus of the Catholic Church who served as the 265th pope from 2005 until his resignation in 2013. Although he has never been on Saturday Night Live, he has been impersonated by Darrell Hammond on May 6, 2006 during the opening monologue, by Christoph Waltz on February 16, 2013 during the "Papal Securities" filmed commercial sketch and by Fred Armisen on March 2, 2013 during "The Situation Room" sketch.
