Andrew David "Andy" Samberg, (born August 18, 1978), is an American actor, comedian, and writer. He is best known for the Digital Shorts he stars in and creates with Saturday Night Live writers Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone - the other two members of the comedy group "The Lonely Island".
Andy got his career started on Channel 101, an independent internet comedy website. Channel 101's longest running show, The 'Bu was created by the Lonely Island. Andy's career got a good jumpstart when he appeared in an episode of the hit sitcom Arrested Development.
Andy joined SNL in 2005 as one of the newest castmembers, and joined Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis as a Featured Player. In June 2012, Samberg announced that he would not return for Season 38. But he guest starred for Seth Meyers' finale episode and he returned as the host for the season 39th finale.
His first break out role on the show was the with the viral digital short "Lazy Sunday", co-starring SNL castmember Chris Parnell. He along with Taccone and Schaffer won an Emmy for their Collaborative Digital Short "D*ck in a Box", which co-starred Justin Timberlake.
